Day 15

Ladies,
We are half way through our challenge! How are you doing? Do you think your husband notices a difference? How about your children? We hope you feel encouraged as well and are excited for the second half! Please let us know either by e-mail or by posting a comment.

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..." 2 Pet. 3:18a
Sometimes we live so close to our spouse that we fail to see him as others do; we only see our husband's faults. But take a step back. Perhaps he is growing spiritually in ways you have failed to appreciate. How can you encourage his growth in a fresh, new way? Remember - your husband is accountable to God for his spiritual development. You are accountable to God to encourage and not hinder that growth. Can you identify an area of spiritual strength in your husband? Does he pray or read his Bible regularly? Does he like to read about or discuss spiritual matters? Does he go to church with you? Is he a spiritual leader? What do others say about him? If you can identify a specific area, praise him for that. If not, pray earnestly that God will work in his heart, and watch for signs of spiritual growth in the future.

I am lucky enough to be married to my best friend. Derek is definitely the leader in our house and his quiet strength encourages me many times over. I have been praying that God would grow a desire for getting to know who God really is and a desire to come to church with me for a long time now. Since we started this challenge, I have left a seat open for him whenever I go, trusting that God will someday fill it. This has been really good for me to see how many negative thoughts I can have when I am not taking each thought captive, and God has really been showing me what a good husband He has blessed me with. I am really spoiled.

Thank you for your comments.
They are heart warming and are a reminder of what the challenge is all about... I will personally take on praying for you and Derek. I want nothing more than my own empty seat to be filled as well!

Just want you to know that God fills empty seats, particularly at FVC. For many years I came alone. Now, when I visit, we fill the whole row! Praise Him and keep praying for him.
